I have for the last week or so been having a problem when turning the key in the ignition normally, it just clicks like a stuck solenoid on the starter but if i turn the key quick it starts ok, any ideas?
Another problem i noticed today is when driving over a series of bumps or pot holes at 40 to 50mph it seems like the rear of the car(96 3.0L elite auto with self leveling)is actually leaving the ground or skipping sideways, has just passed MOT without any suspension faults listed, any ideas?
I asked on here the other day about the fact that my tick over is high at 1100 rpm and was told to check for air leaks or dirty ICV, but can't find any leaks and all breather system cleaned before the fitting of new Cam cover gaskets. The idle is really smooth and doesn't stall at all, any ideas?
Thanks for any help given,
Pete :y.

Not sure about the other problems, but the tick over is VERY high for a v6!
It should sit at 500rpm ish (600 with climate on). Only thing I can think of if you've check for air leaks, and the ICV, is if the engine temp sensor has gone? and its running it like its stone cold (ie choke on full)
Is the engine light on?
Can you do a paperclip test?

maybe egr valves sticking? this is known to happen sometimes isnt it, that would explain the high tick over maybe

Hi, Haven't got any lights on but engine does seem to run a tad hot, will try a clip test.
I have blocked off the EGR valve so should not be a factor.
