Hi to everyone
newbie from south wales here just found your excellent site whilst trwling the web for help with my omega. I have a 2003 2.2 cd with 51k on it all seems fine on the car except for the heater fan the display says it is blowing but it definatly isn,t and all fuses seem fine. maybe a relay?? or the dreaded fan motor?? any guidance appreciated.
I wouldn,t normaly join a forum with a question but i do hope i can contribute something usefull in the future. thanx dave

Does the lack of responce mean no omega heater motor ever stopped working ??? :o :o :o

I would check fuse F33 first (top left of teh fuse box).
Also, any signs of water in the passenger footwell?

If its the fan motor you will need to remove glove box, cable tray (cut all the black tape!!) to remove - 3 torx screws IIRC. Awkward fiddly job :(

could be fan motor blower,as said glove box has to be removed,changed one on mine about a year ago when brother in law owned it,quiet fiddley to change and a lot of bad language

It's likely to be the fan control module, fitted in the fan casing and needs the the glovebox removed to access. Changing the fan is not so easy so it's worth trying an external supply to prove the motor is ok.

Hi! Painter, has your car got air con or just heating, could possible be the fan speed resistor which is also near the fan. I had a poor connection on climate control switches which stop mine working.

Well thanks to everyone for your time interest and comments, I have now checked the fuses and they seem fine inc the large f33 fuse, the digital display on the dash lights up ok including the fan switch little bars showing the speed of the fan, so i assume the power is reaching the switches ok. there is no evidence of water or damp on the footwells so I guess i should now be removing the glovebox to access the motor??? does anyone know the location of any relays beore i take such drastic measures??

Digital display so you have an electronic motor speed control module which sits in the fan caseing and is cooled by the airflow.
The module can be water damaged, what happens is the drain hole for the air intake plennum gets blocked with leaves and rain water builds up until it gets to the level of the fan intake then it trickles into the control module.
If you remove the glove box you will see the module, it is about 2" / 50mm square and clips into the fan housing. Remove it and prise off a small plastic cover by the terminals. If there is furry corrosion inside then thats your problem.
To confirm it, follow the wires into the fan motor, find the two thick ones and apply 12V to it, you should get full speed fan if the motor is OK.
Modules cannot be repaired, you will have to find one from a breakers.

very informative thank you tomorrow I will have a go, i expect it is well known on here but in south wales we have an excellent vauxhall breaker on the outskirts of caerleon and they only break Vauxhall

Thanks to all, and thanks to Painter for the question, as I also have the same problem. Cleaning the leaves and twigs definitely allows the water to drain.

Hi People so far so good with the strip down (the car not me !!!) I can now see the heater motor having removed the glove box and untaped the wiring from the plastic tray but think I need to remove the airbag to get at it clearly, any advice on removal or dis arming airbag will be gratefully recieved before I go back foir round 2 tomorrow, many thanks and regards Dave

IIRC you don't have to remove airbag to get blower motor out. Undo 3 x torx screws and manoeuvre it out.

Hi folks and so for an update ....... the heater is now sat on the desk beside me and when coupled to a battery it roared perfectly into life. so i now move on to the control box is this the box alogside the fan motor that all the wires plug into and if so can anyone offer advice as to its removal and testing....

and finaly having removed it all could find no fault so plugged it all back in and it all worked and has continued to do so since putting back together.
may I thank everyone for the quality and speed of your replies it has made the whole car repair experience not only bearable but almost enjoyable :):):)
