Title: Omega Ignition switch probs
Post by: ramsay on 28 October 2008, 18:51:16
Hi folks,
Just wondering if someone out there can help! I am having to put in a new ignition switch into my Omega 2.5 turbo diesel 1998.
Does the multi-plug on the left-hand side of the column just pull out?
and what effect could this have on the immobiliser?
Any ideas gratefully recieved. I am sitting here with one car that will not start????!!!! >:(

To get the connector off the ignition switch you have to turn the key to position '1' then look for a hole in the side of the connector, it gives access to a latch inside which you have to press in with a small screwdriver to release the connector.
The connector has to be levered off the contact blades but it wont move until you release the latch.
Ignition switch is fastened to the steering lock housing by a grub screw.

No there is a small screw to undo then it will slide across off a pin iirc. Tom

A guide with pics should appear in the Maintanence section in the next day or so.
