Title: changing auto box oil query
Post by: Ken T on 07 November 2008, 17:57:22
Is there something special about doing this ?. I seem to remember that taking off the 2 pans doesn't allow all the oil to flow out. Is it sufficient to just take off the pans clean the filter, refit and then refill, or is there something extra to do to get the remaining oil out ?

The torque converter will retain some oil - can't remember how much - the best you can do is remove & clear out the two sump pans.

You can also diconnect the oil cooler pipes and blow them through.
The clips can be undone with a pair of pliers. There is not a massive amount in there but it will refill when the clean stuff is put in and the box pump runs.
