Title: how to pair radio and display?
Post by: sneakypenguin on 08 November 2008, 00:27:27
good morning everyone, a little problem to test those grey cells of yours.

I've got a 99 omega elite (3.0 one), when i bought it the battery was changed and lost the codes for the raio/cd changer etc. Now, I got the codes through my local vx dealer, but can't see anywhere to put them in. Done a little research and, correct me if I'm wrong, I have to pair the radio to the display? How on earth do i do this? any help would be much appreciated!

No pairing just input the codes into radio. What unit have you got :)

it's the ccrt 700 head unit, the reason i was wondering about the pairing was nothing comes on the display about safe mode or anything.

UPDATE: Got the radio working (not a bad sound actually) but another question, does it show what station/frequency your listening too or is it just guesswork?

thanks

The radio station should be displayed on your dash info panel.

does the rest of the display work, eg trip computer, time etc? if not, the backlight may be blown - 2 or 3 bulbs, dead easy to replace

the display work's fine, no dead pixels and shows inst consumption, range etc, just wondering if i had to do anything to make it show on there

If you don't get the problem solved try posting in the Omega electrical section, bet Dave DND will be along swiftly to give you the info.

So its purely radio/cd info that doesn't show? What about the Phone section of the display, does that show up right?

As I say, the only things on the display are the mpg, outside temp (which is very optomistic), inst consumption, range etc, nothing on there refering to the radio or phone at all. doesn't bode very well does it? thanks for all your help btw

Can I ask a quick Q?  If is a half height display, and not the full height one?

I only ever owned a facelift so don't know about what should be showing on your prefacelift's display. On my facelift it shows radio station or CD info, or when turned off the date I think.
Like I suggested post in the Omega electrical section you should get a swift answer there.

at a guess I'd say it's a half height display, could do with a picture to say for certain

Right, so correct display.  Might be worth reseating radio, failing that, you'll need to get the meter out and check wiring

disconnect the battery for a while. Say 5 mins? I presume thats what TB means? Youll have to reset the one touch windows, hold the window up for a couple of seconds after closing, and hold the sun roof dial in, in each position to reset the sunroof. Hth

No, I meant reseating it in its cage.

Yes!  ;) You're hopefully just looking for a dodgy connection.

Until display working, its pretty much unusable.

You could try A N Other known to be working radio in your car, or your radio in another car.
Did all the connections look to be OK?
Try pulling out the radio cage & plugging the plugs directly into your radio ......  :-/
