Noticed mine has been done. Any thoughts on whether it is worth doing?
It also has a distincly amateur looking pipe going down to the front of the car. Presumably "cold air injection"?
Seems like snake oil to me but seems to have some currency on another forum?

the omega intakes quite good as it is... that pipe going down to the front of the car could possibly take in water as it might be too low down-
the intake pipes only behind the front grill as it is so getting cold air

So someone wanted to reduce the engine output by drilling holes in the airbox to admit hot air from the radiator. ;D

drilled airbox= hot air=low power
and if drilled from wrong positions =dirty maf :-/

Just makes me wonder why vx designed the cold air intake pipe so it comes up on its side. Not looking towards front of vehicle?? Anyone know why they do this?? :-/

probably because it was cheaper and easier to fit like that

Simpler than that.....you actualy get a high pressure spot build in front of the rads (they do restrict the airflow).....so they fit as big a pipe as they can to that area......and the advantages are clear....some ram affect and nice cold air!

Looks to me like vx see more air pressure moving sideway as it hits the much larger area of the vertical radiator than can be had from direct "ram air" induction. Imagine the size of the intake needed to catch the same volume of air in a direct set up.
The holes will give a nice induction roar, and loose power, bike makers have been "shapeing" or tuneing this noise for years as it sells bikes. Kawasaki esp. But you wont see any drilled holes to achieve it. Honda, like vx on the omega, also prefer the intake near the rad, presumably they see a bigger volume of air trapped by the fairing surrounding the rad than a ram air "scoop" or letter box style intake on the fairing nose. I guess the theory is along those lines...
Edit, clearly i cant multi task, its taken me 30 mins to type this, talk to the Mrs and watch telly while eating tea and circuits.
