Put the key in the door and turn it to unlock very very hard. It will feel like it going to break, but it won't.

If you are really stuck, but the grille, pop the bonnet and get in that way. Markey Mark will sort you a new grille out. I'd be very surprised if this were necessary though.

Hi - is the door lock just vey stiff as they don't get used much - seem to remember my old 99 Elite had the same problem and I just used the key in the lock with some penetrating fluid and wiggled it round to the unlock and lock a few times.  Or try and get in the boot if you have the key lock on the bootlid.  If the alarm goes off try and get the key in the ignition asap as that overides it.

If not I am sure that someone with far more knowledge will advise shortly.

Stick to forcing the key in the door 1st; it will work.

I think by opening the bonnet you may be able to take the battery out of the circuit which may help, but ignore me on this point as I'm not sure.

The battery in the car is fine :). The alarm light is flashing on the dash and its never failed to start or does the car battery keep the deadlocks on???

new battery? Spare, you would have tried that. Slater bathroom or kitchen digital scales sometimes use the same battery, if you have such a thing.

He's just changed the battery. Have you checked it isn't the button on the key fob playing up?

Try to dismantle the key and close the circuit that should be closed when the button is pressed. (Obviously with the new battery in situ on the circuit)

Don't break your window, I have seen this problem posted many times before and I know someone will give you the solution. I'm almost certain you aren't turning that key hard enough in the door lock. It is unusually clock-wise to unlock by the way (At least it is on my facelift)

pretty sure it will, as said, it will almost feel as if you're going to break it but it should work

I had the opposite problem with mine - I couldn't lock it.  Then if I sat in the drivers eat it once locked but immediately unlocked again.  I bought a new battery but I had to put the keys in the ignition before it would work again

easiest way to get in the omega is through the boot... and reach up through the centre armwrest to open up the middle then lower a seat by reaching up and then climb through the car haha!

I agree with the forcing the key in the Lock, my battery went flat and i could not get in, i thought if i forced it any more the key would break so i phone the AA.
He came out and just forced the key and pulled the handle and hey presto!

Sometimes brute force and ignorance is the answer

Forcing it hard is the correct answer.  I would personally use silicon spray lube rather than WD40 as I believe WD40 might corrode any rubber seals in there, whereas silicon makes them expand.  Thats what I've been told anyway.

Either that or act any local hoodlum...I'll bet they know a way in fast enough.

Hi, I had same problem with my lock, I tried and tried, then got into the car through the boot and drove the car to the garage. I felt a right prat ???? when the bloke said how easy it is and proceeded to open the door for me. Turn to the right (Clockwise) but very hard, it feels the key will snap but it does not. ...keep trying...good luck

Just to re-iterate, WD40 is NOT a lubricant!

i had this problem on my w reg facelift,it turned out the little bar from the barrel to the lock was off,but only found that out after having to break my grill to get the bonnet open to put jump leads on,for the next time the battery went flat, even with it deadlocked,i still managed to open it with the key. :)
