Title: resetting error warnings
Post by: omegadti on 21 November 2008, 14:34:47
I have 2 warings showing on the computer on my 2002 2.2dti.

The first is low beam/fld vision - I have replaced the sensors on the wishbones front and rear but the warning is still there.

The second is that after replacing my battery the low coolant warning appeared even though there is plenty of coolant in the header tank.

Does anyone know if these warnings need to be reset by tech2 and if they do is there anyone reasonably priced in the Manchester area to do this.

Both are auto resetting errors.

The coolant header tank, sensor will be knackered, a new one is about £30 with sensor.....or unplug it and short with a paperclip..

The HID's must still think there is an error, or havent been turned on long enough to realise they are now ok?

could be the level adjusters in the back of your headlights ! and coolant low could be a dodgy float or sticky float ! try removing header tank and rinse out with hose pipe to remove all the crud  :y

if both hid sensors are ok then i guess that would point to the headlight adjusters? Tech 2 can pin point it more precisely unless, thinking about it, the wireing to from the sensors should be checked first as i imagine digging around behind the headlights could be a mare. Once rectified the fault warning should go away without tech 2, as mine did, once sensor was replaced.
The low coolant warning should go, once the coolant level is topped up, if not the plunger is stuck at the bottom and is not rising with the level. Remove and clean or replace bottle.

I did this and a few other parts ::) Well nearly all actually (thanks Markey)

Turned out to be a broken wire inside the insulation where the wire entered the plug on the front sensor
