I have an Omega Elite V6 - The headgasket right bank has gone - Is it worth spending the money to replace it (146000 + Miles - No Mot Susspesion Bushes OSF and two Tyres and NSF Dip Headlight no Pattern) or is time to send this miggy to the great Miggy graveyard? :-/

are you sure it is the HG? symptoms?
often mis diagnosed for oil cooler or HBV failure
-
Symptons are
Starts fine - When warm starts to miss and feel lumpy - Pulled No 3 Plug (RH Bank Centre) loads of water on the plug
BTW what is HBV?
-
HBV = Heater By-pass Valve :y
Any oil in the expansion tank or mayonaise looking gunge on the dipstick?
-
Expansion tank looks oily and Mayo on Oil Filler cap

More than likely oil cooler then :y
-
Scuse my ignorance bu is tis adifficult job?
-
Fairly difficult, there is a HowTo here (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1221081908) :y
-
thanks for that I will look into it before making my mind up :y Unless anyone knows of a good mech aroundthe Surrey Camberley Area?
-
Mayo on the inside of the oil filler is generally because the car has been doing short journeys, using Vauxhalls oil goes someway to curing this. Oil in the water is more than likely the oil cooler as said above ;)
-
If it was the oil cooler - would it cause these symptoms?
Starts fine - When warm starts to miss and feel lumpy
I reckon a compression test is in order first...
-
Actually there is water in the cylinder head - pulled one plug and it was soaking :(
-
If no one is intrested in saving this Elite - It will be going tothe Graet Miggy Scrapyard in th Sky 30th Nov 08 - I would break it myself but donot have the space - Another one bits the dust :'(
-
were you based joe ?? and how much mate ??
-
Have you confirmed there's coolant leaking into the cylinders? Sounds to me like it could just be a leak from the scuttle area filling up the plug wells with water and causing a misfire. :-/
I am in the Camberley area occasionally if you want a second opinion.

This car should not be scrapped until further investigation is done. It's a waste of a potentially very savable Omega.
-
O know thats why i would like someone to take it off my hands - i do not have room to store it - the knowledge to repair it - surely someone could revive this motor to its former glory [smiley=undecided.gif]
