Post by: JoeBirt on 12 November 2008, 11:37:17
I have an Omega Elite V6 - The headgasket right bank has gone - Is it worth spending the money to replace it (146000 + Miles - No Mot Susspesion Bushes OSF and two Tyres and NSF Dip Headlight no Pattern) or is time to send this miggy to the great Miggy graveyard? :-/

Mayo on the inside of the oil filler is generally because the car has been doing short journeys, using Vauxhalls oil goes someway to curing this. Oil in the water is more than likely the oil cooler as said above ;)

If it was the oil cooler - would it cause these symptoms?

I reckon a compression test is in order first...

Have you confirmed there's coolant leaking into the cylinders? Sounds to me like it could just be a leak from the scuttle area filling up the plug wells with water and causing a misfire. :-/

I am in the Camberley area occasionally if you want a second opinion.

This car should not be scrapped until further investigation is done. It's a waste of a potentially very savable Omega.

O know thats why i would like someone to take it off my hands - i do not have room to store it - the knowledge to repair it - surely someone could revive this motor to its former glory [smiley=undecided.gif]
