Title: -94 Omega & Cruise problem
Post by: JoGo on 06 November 2008, 13:55:41
Hello,
I have a problem fitting cruise control head unit to my -94 X20XEV Omega. Problem is that I don't even find connector wire to cruise head unit wich is under bonnet??  :-/

So do -94 models even have electrial wiring for cruise?

And sorry my bad english, I'm from Finland and my english skills just aren't so good as yours  ;)

A pic below (no wiring at all??), just a place to cruise unit..

Actually in Finland we have only GL and CD-models and I have that GL.

My dad own's other -96 GL 2.0 8v (X20SE) Omega and I found a connector to cruise from my dad's car but not on my own  :-?
And my friend had also Opel Omega 2.0 16v GL and in has car also was option to add cruise  :-?

So, because I didn't found wiring loom for cruise from my car I started to fit it to My dad's -96 GL 2.0 8v (X20SE).

I added cruise motor under bonnet and connect wire to thortle body. After that I put new cruise stalk to it's place and clutch switch in place.
After that I go to test drive and  :(.. cruise didn't work.
I don't have any clue why it doesn't work. I have allready check all connections etc.
I also checkked wiring diagrams and I notised that cruise is controlled by a relay K14 on my model. Where is this relay if could check that is it in place.

I hope you understand my language and answer to my questions  ;)

K14 isn't a relay, but the Cruise Control itself.

I have put a Vectra/Omega Cruise Control in my old Vectra A/Cavalier Mk. III without any problems.
Pictures and drawings can be seen here (http://www.olsenworld.dk/opel/goerdetselv/fartpilot/fp-samling.asp) (sorry, it's in danish)

No, becuse I have only 2wires coming to brake switch. 4pin brake switch is needed only ~from 98->.

Should I just program cruise to ecu with Tech in service??

The earlier engines with throttle cables, their ECUs have no concept of cruise control  :-/

If you have access to Tech2, doing a live data read of the Cruise ECU may help

Thats right, you don't need a 4pin brake switch. But to keep the two circuits (breaklight and Cruise Control) apart, you should use it.

Here is a couple of things to try out:

Check that you have connected the the Cruise Control wire on the correct pin.  Othervise it vill get +12v all the time = break activate - stop cruise Control.

Try to shortcircuit the clutch switch. should only be disconnected when clutch pedal is pressed.

Now i have chekked all connection again change the fuse and etc. But cruise still no working. Is there possibility to test cruise stalk or cruise motor itself by leading power to it?
Does anybody now which wire means what on cruise motor connection?

Yes, once you got Cruise Control ...  ;)
I have also visited Finland once, Pori (Bjørneborg, I think), but thats 25 years ago. It's a nice country.
I have visited UK more ofte. Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Portsmouth. Last time in 06 when I was in Edinburgh for the second time.

Yes, now I found right wire, thanks a lot! Tomorrow I'll go to local vauxhall dealer (or as we said Opel). My old friend is working there and he will try out if tech update for ecu will help enable cruise.

Again very bad english, sorry  :P
