Title: KEY FOBS
Post by: FREDSTA on 30 November 2008, 13:31:47
Mornin'
Took my car to the stealers to have a key fob programmed. Took 40 mins to tell me they couldn't programme it.  ;D So i said i would buy a new one. They couldn't programme that one either  :( and said there were no fault codes showing so they would have to book it in for a diagnostics check >:(  Anyone had experience of this? £200 to not open it with a key is getting a bit silly. :-X

Key programming needs done by Tech2, as far as I understand it, so it may have been that the dealer did not have the Tech2 or someone able to use it.  There are such machines available on this forum, check out either Marks_DTM, TheBoy, Kevin Wood or myself for locations nearest you.  I must be the furthest away though!

Muppets. I hope you havent paid them. Youve asked them to programme a key. They clearly have not done so.
I guess Kevin Wood is closest in Alton.
Youll need Tech2,  the car, the key, proof of ownership and your car pass, or al least the security
codes on it. Oh, and as said, a decent operator who knows tech2. The guys on here know their stuff.

ps. Try the reset, with key in ignition, press the central locking buttons. If it works the door knobs go up and down. I think thats correct. Not had cause to try it myself. If the fob is buggered Martin Imber on here does a repair service. The Boy on here sorted me out with a spare key blade and chip with
the tech2 programmeing. Can then get the key cut at lock smith. At that point you then have a working key. Just need a bliper, this has to be programmed also, so really all you need is a fob and Oof members can do the rest. If you can get to them.
Someone posted a site for fobs a while back. Anyone?

 Hth.

My original message was a bit misleading i suppose. I didn't actually pay them for being muppets. It's just the cost of a diagnostics check + programming + possibly a new remote would be a lot if i went for it. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
I shall endeavour to sort it using your advice.
