Is it advisable to flush the V6 when changing the oil or use any other additives
A product I have used in the past is Protec flush. They make many products along the same lines.

i'v never really thought it necesary to flush the engine with an engine flush but having seen how quickly the oil changed to a dark black sludge at the last oil change i would be tempted to try it and see if the next oil change showed it to help keep the oil a light brown for longer!
i'v been told it could wear the engine getting it too clean using engine flush but dont know how true this is

oil is the best flush agent, if it goes dark quickly.
Just do a change every 500 miles, then one every 1k, and lengthen.
Did wonders for my 2.2 :y

Dont, I repeat DONT use the hose to flush it out. and before you say anything.. yes some people have tried it muhahahhah :D

wise words imo,and oil on trade card will be cheaper than flushing agent. :y

I would enver flush a modern engine.
Seen to many have blocked strainers afterwards.
The troubel is the flush un-sticks ALL the crudd, some of this comes out when you drop the oil but not before some has blocked the strainer up.

It never did the Paj any harm (I presume :-X) but the Omega has a much more modern engine, with I presume greater tolerances.
So I will go with the general consensus and not flush ;)

I have heard bad bad effects of flushing. Crud is loosened and tends to block oil ways that can lead to oil starvation and major problems.
The modern engines e.g the Ecotec V6 have tight tolerance, hence they can operate with 'thin' synthetic oils.
Conclusion - do not flush, frequent oil changes are the best for longevity of your engine.
