Well, not suprised they are buggered. Should have got off my arse and had a look. Back end did feel wavey but the new springs improved things so i thought that will do. Whats the deal with changeing these guys. Presume the triangle plate of the the trailing arm has to come off as someone told me on here. Iirc it sounded fairly straight forward.
And wheres the best place to get em. I have a tc card.

Eurocarparts do the standard Omega ones, but if you want to sharpen-up the handling a bit ask for carlton / senator ones.

what are they like to fit ? How much a pair and do they sharpen up the handling much ? Mines a bit jittery on lumps n bumps in road !

I found an easier way with my Senator was to grease the palm of a friendly local garage..... £40 IIRC :y

right, been ringing round. Vx dont keep em in stock. 2 local eurocar parts branches cant get then at all. But camberly auto factors will have some in this pm. Pick up tomorrow am. Only thing is they are made by perl and are about £30 ! Never hurd of em. Anygood? Maybe he means merle?vx want 50 plus a side.
Ps Perl list the omega and senator/carlton bushes as the same part number...

Re rear bushes
I had to change these for mot, remove triangle and drop down arm, use a long bolt, thick metal plates (with hole) and spacers to pull out the bushes. Mine came out whole and were not worn. tester assumed they were worn because the bottom "lip" on the bush was coming away from the metal case. ( he later apologised !) the bottom lip only acts as a bump stop if you get airborne.
Remove the triangle, clean off the rubber and metal and glue it back on, unless of course the bush is actually worn.
£35 each from motor factors and around 2 hours to change the 2.

My Senator's bushes came off in two bits, the centre metal sleeve had come away from the rubber completely.
Mine had passed an MOT like it. :-?

I have to say, it seems logical that if front bushes go with the regularity that they do, that perhaps we should be checking these in the same breath as the fronts? I did post as much a while or so ago and received some good responses but im buggered if i can find it with the search. I have been aware of some back end movement very similar to the front, shot wishbone bush, feel.
Just wondering if any set up issues will result from changeing the rears? Hopefully ill be able to have a look tomorrow if the parts are ok.

ps one of the dealers mentioned an inner and outer bush on the rear wish bone. And after a peep under the car there is a 2nd "joint" which presumably is the second inner bush. This has not been mentioned re the mot. But does anyone have an idea if this is worth changeing as well? Might tighten things up furthe maybe? Tbh ive never even looked...

just an update, got a set of omega and carlton/senator bushes from first line, one of each in the pic, omega at the top.

and this is how i got the buggers out, the rubbers where partially separated from the metal cup, hence the failure. i ripped the rubbers out and inserted two bars(small/short length allen keys)between the back of the cup and the trailing arm. this allowed me to use a gear/bearing pullers to pull out the cup while spacing out the depth with a large socket. took me a while to sus it and managed to bend my claw hammer when used as suggested. They where well stuck in.

just for the record and anyone fitting, don't lube the the bushes in the hope they will go in easier, they will just squidge back out again. if anyone is interested in a guide let me know
oh, and most importantly, the improvement in handling is the most dramatic yet, far less tram lining and far less correction at the wheel to keep the car in line. highly recommended, more of an improvement than front wishbone bush replacement:y :y :y :y
