Title: Mystery mayo!!!!
Post by: vrba on 06 December 2008, 18:46:02
Today I was driving my migy around the town and enjoying. When I got home I was going to check oil and wauu, on the oil cap there was some mayo. So OK I put the cap back and went to hair salon. After haircut drove home and look the oil cap again and there was no mayo anymore. The firs reason for checking the cap was because my dad said to me that there is mayo on it and that my car is mixing oil and water and the same thing happened when I checked it with dad, there was no mayo and he was telling me that there was.
So what it can be?
And one more thing. I have oil in plug wheel again, sorted one side but didn't do boat of them and now I have to do that other (I was cheap, was thinking maybe other side will be OK [ch61514] )

It is normal to get some mayo on the oil filler cap when you do short journeys ;)

mayo in filler neck is nothing to worry about. Its caused by the cap running in cooler air than the engine and condensation forming. You can remove the neck and plug the cap direct to the cam cover and the mayo will go away. But you will have trouble filling/pooring the oil to top up.
If you are worried about head gaskit check the dip stick for mayo. The filler neck is normal esp if used for alot of short journeys.

Other cam cover will need doing. Hth
