Morning all,
Are there any "how to" guides on removal of miggy alternators on this forum, really want to do this myself to save the pennies, but i`m no mechanic! Changed tha s/motor and cured firing problem, but due to the red dash lights perm on need to sort the alternator now? where the heck due i start???

Guys i need help/pointers to get this alternator done, cant evenfind the tensioner for the belt, need to sort the beast for monday but cant get the job even started!!!

Alternator on tractor is tight.
Remove black 'turbo diesel' plastics
Remove viscous fan and cowling if still fitted.
Remove top bolt of tensioner (damper like device), and loosen other bolt through same black metal plate, this will remove tension on belt.
Remove belt.
Remove battery (you will need radio codes etc later!)
remove both electrical connections from alternator
remove the 2 bolts holding altanator to block
Alternator may come up, or may have to go forwards towards rad.
You may have to remove intake to get the space to do it all.

Cheers TheBoy, that`ll do nicely, gonna crack on with that first thing in the morning. There`s a pint with your name on it if you`re ever up this way!!

Good luck :y
Even when you've removed all the bits, and undone alternator, its tight removing it

hi TheBoy, are you out here?
i know you said it was tight to get out but this is ridiculous??
? the only way i can see of getting this damn alternator out is by cutting a slot in the battery tray?? iv`e tried all ways of twisting and turning it but its simply bigger than the exit space...help needed......

thats what i found. I had to bring mine forward towards rad (piece of card to protect rad). IIRC - forgive me, it was over a year ago - I may have had to undo ac pipes near rad.

yeah i think thats the way forward, too cold and dark now, see if i can sneak a half day off work this week. God knows what a garage would`ve charged in labour for this saga????
