Title: just died
Post by: paulc855 on 06 December 2008, 20:00:02
My car has just cut out on me tonight while driving. There is still power in the battery, but it will turn over but not fire, it has to be electrical but i know nothing about electrics.

oh and it's a 2.5 V6 auto if that helps

Any warning lights on ?
If its turning over and not firing try putting the pedal to the metal it may just catch !
But as already said paper clip test it and see what's gone wrong

if it cut out at tickover, clean the icv with carb cleaner and lube with light oil.

If it cut out while driveing/cranks on the key but will not fire and then starts just fine a little later then def crank sensor. Do p clip test or pedal trick for drive by wire cars to flash out the code (19) to confirm but this still may not show a code.

Not sure, i had only had the car for 2 months i was in the process of doing the usual suspects. i had done fluid changes, brakes and tyres would have been on the list but didn't get to it in time. Lesson learned i suppose.
