Literally got back to the office from lunch so havnt had a chance to begin looking yet but on the way back my brakes seem to have dissapeared :o
they kinda work, but as i pulled up to the car park, the pedal just goes to the carpet and then the abs cuts in fairly hideously!
I gather a leak or something, just wanted to run it past you guys too :y

just nipped out and checked the level... err... fairly empty! Just asked one of the guys to get me some fluid, so hopefully just that, although no warning light came up :(

Hmm, sounds like you have a leak plus you probably have air in the system now.
I'd be really dubious about just topping it up: find the leak first

I would call the AA on this one if you have the right membership.
Assuming it is air in there, the system will need to be bled. If this includes the ABS unit I beleive it needs Tech 2 to do it.

Seriously if you know the brakes are dodgy don't drive it. Just imaging you are driving at 15 mph and someone steps out in front of you - if you cannot stop. Well you guess the rest. You'll also be well and truely done by the rozzers!

I agree too. Infact even I think I'd be inclined to have it recovered rather than try to drive it on the main road with iffy (at best) brakes.

Yep, defo a recovery job bud.
Brake fluid don't just disappear/evaporate for no reason.
If I were you, I'd get it recovered home, then top-up the fluid level, then get it bled and go over the whole pipework with a fine tooth comb (preferably with your assistant from the bleeding excercise - unless you use an Ezee-Bleed jobbie - pumping the brake pedal). Pay special attention at the unions, flexi-hoses, and the bits where the clamps are that hold the pipes to the body-work

Oh, and this is from the voice of experience of someone who's had brakes fail at (ahem...) 70mph on the motorway. It's no fun at all having the middle pedal go straight to the floor when all you can see in front of you is a wall of red lights in the ever-decreasing distance... :o Good job the handbrake was bob-on on me old Cav

Cheers guys, managed to get it back on Friday, seems it was a drift related injury from packing up in the dark on weds, bit of rogue tyre strand had wrapped around the d/shaft and pulled the hard pipe down causing it to crack!
Couldnt do it untill Sunday, but luckily GM dont chamge much so managed to steal the same bit off my carlton! Bled up ok and back on the road! :y
