is there any way of repairing the pixels in the clock part of the dash that tells you the time, radio station, mpg, fuel range etc, etc
-
There is a way which involves scraping the oxides off the ribbon at the bottom of the unit. There is a how to on the web somewhere but you would be better just to buy a working second hand unit and have it programmed (if needed).
To repair this is not an easy job and very time consuming with not always great results. I got mine off ebay but I'm sure there will be a seller on here somewhere.
You have to take the unit out (very easy and how to in the maintenance section) and look at the colour of the plug. When replacing the unit you must use an identical colour of plug.

Is your computer lines above radio line, or below?
If above, they rarely fail, so loads of 2nd hand ones. If below, they are poor, always fail, and finding a perfect one is rare.
Either way, it needs programming to match the config of your car

think his car is a 94 so will be the early black and yellow plug ! like rocking horse poo now !! :(

if its the lcd end on ribbon, no chance. If its pcb end of ribbon, gently peeling back, cleaning contacts, and reattaching.

lcd end on ribbon :-? pcb end of ribbon :-?
Is that English? Sorry TB but I've got no clue what you are talking about.
BTW, peeled the ribbon back, cleaned contacts, how best to reattach
