Title: Climate Control check
Post by: HCG on 15 December 2008, 17:07:28
2003 2.6 V6 CD - I'm not sure the Climate Control is 100%. Is there any way to check it? It seems to be hotter sometimes at 19C and won't change to cooler unless you manually bang it down a couple.

the point that heat and cold cross over will alter according to outside temp as i understand it. So in cold weather, cold air will come in lower down the temp range, afaik. As for checking it, tech 2, or have a look in the engine bay and look at the bottom right pulley with 4 knobs on, that is the ac pump, with engine running, when ac is selected(lo to be sure) with eco off the clutch should engauge and the knobs should spin. If not its out of gas usually with a leak or may be bad electrical connection to pump. Hth

Thanks, that bit spins. It's not so much as it not working - it just seems inconsistent, sometimes too hot sometimes too cold (I am male by the way!). Also possibly odd with left & right settings on as seperate. I wondered if there was a self-test proceedure, like the pedal test, to flag up if, say, it's management bit was faulty (no flashing spanner on start up). Would plug in diagnostics at garage tell?
There seems to be a few issues re: heating on the forum at the mo.

You can reset the air flap servos by holding the 'off' and 'auto' buttons in together for about 5 seconds (thats if its a pre / mini facelift)

I find the same in my 2001 3.2Elite - sometimes the air is blowing hot and other times cool - withthe same setting and after a while inthe car (1/2 hr).  I often have to fiddle with it to be comfortable.
