I have had for a long time a vacuum leak that I am not able to solve. It is at the back of the intake manifold on the underside somewhere. Spraying with startgas shows that it is there somewhere.
I have changed the manifold gasket twice and the injector o-rings and nothing has made it better. The gasket surfaces looks smooth and clean with nothing that looks like it would leak.
Could the intake have cracks? I have looked for that but nothing that I can find.
This leak makes the idle rough even when it runs on all cylinders ( see my other problem on misfirings)
Is it common that the intake manifold could crack? Or have anyone heard of this kind of leakproblem.
Thanks

Bumping this one and hope for some input.

never heard of it on miggys, but you could try smearing washing up liquid around the area to help pinpoint :-/

Underneath.....cant think of anything round that area!
Obviously there is the brake servo line, breathers etc....but they are not near the under side of the manifold

Yes it is strange.
I have sprayed the hoses and connections to the brake booster but that doesn't give any reaction. Only times it revs up from the starting gas is when I spray the back of the manifolds underside. Might be the gasket area around the EGR returnport.
I guess I have to take it appart AGAIN and be really generous with putting some sealer there.
It is annoying because it turns on the MIL and the inspection doesn't approve cars with the MIL on.
Thanks
I'll get back if I find anything.

AHhh.....the Uk engines do not have EGR.
Does this connect in in this area then as I am surprised it does not exist in the same place as the 2.0's?

The problem gets less obvious when the engine gets warm so mybe the aluminum expands and tighten it up some. The big difference in temperature in this area might have created some warping in the area around the gasket.
Checking the gasketsurface with a ruler it looks straight though. I am confused.
