Guys,
I'm in a desperate situation. I have a tyre that needs changing asap. Went along to the garage this morning just presuming I'd find the key and I can't. I do have the code but I'm told the keys have to be ordered in, not kept in stock. I'm due to drive to Belguim tonight!
Can anyone help?!?!?!?!?!?

Most "national" tyre chains .. kwikfat etc etc seem to keep a selection of removal tools in stock, or they'll muller it off for you.. :(

If its the Vauxhall ones with the spinning ring around the outside, they're a right pain to get off.

The earlier type, with the 3 holes in the middle, have a relatively thin spinning colar and so are quite easy to cut off, the local ATS didn't even bother trying to cut them off & just used one of the above type nut removers. There is another type of nut remover though specifically intended for wheel nuts & has a finer helix.
The later 'cake cutter' Vx locking wheel nuts have a more substantial spinning collar that looks like it would be more effective.

The key looks round with 3 holes in it. I haven't felt it to see if any part of it spins?
Can I try whacking a socket on it and undoing it that way?

Same here, not a fun job, if you can, get the garage to do it, they will likely be practised and have well used techniques.

I personally wouldn't, you could do more harm & so make it more difficult to remove. Try a different tyre depot if you have no joy with the one you went to. These guys come accross this situation regular & so have the right tools :y :y
