Title: 3.0 MV6 won,t run below 3,000 RPM

After 3 years trouble free years motoring with my MV6 it suddenly developed a lumpy tick over on the way home from work on monday,now it won't start properly.
It will start briefly but seems to be only firing on a few cylinders and cuts out after a few seconds.
Giving it some throtle makes it cut out sooner but if you catch it and get it above 3000 RPM it run perfecttly.
Anyone have any ideas?
I can't afford to pay someone to fix it so if I can't do it myself I'll have to scrap it and catch the bus!!!!!

Don't panic, firstly, where in the UK are you?

Is the engine light on?

All hoses tight and secure?

I,m in Wakefield near Leeds
The engine light is not on,it just won't run at low revs.
There is nothing obviously loose but I.ll have a better look.

Have a look at this topic ignore the "until warmed up bit" I've made as others have posts which could well sort your problem.

They may be other issues but worth checking this lot first, but like James said dont worry peps on here will get sorted  :y

Any codes stored?

If code 19 replace Crank Sensor.

Clean ICV (low cost!), check for air leaks.

Think I should explain . I,m not expecting much for what is  basicaly a non runner. Anything over £100 considered.
I just thought someone on here may have a use for it ether to repair or use it for parts,elec seats,projector headlamps,CD auto changer etc.

This may be a daft question, but if you are breaking the car would your exhaust fit a 2.0ltr CDX 1998 :)

I believe the 3lt is different to the 2lt, but others here may know better than me.
