Im in a Dilemma now as My 3.2 Elite played a little game with me today..
Started to give it a jet wash, then feeling lazy drove round 3 petrol stations to find a working car wash.. so a few short journeys then a car wash then home.
As I pull into my street the engine light is flashing and then there's a definate misfire..
Pedal Code say's 1614 1614 0300 0306 which if I understand right means cylinder 6.
Went to move it out the way of the wife's motor (an hour later) and it starts and runs sweet. wnt for a short spin (7-8 miles) and all's fine.
So the question is... do I take it to mr Vauxhall? and has this happend to any of you guy's?
:-/
your thoughts would be much appreceated as my missus doesnt trust it now to get us 300 miles on friday....

check the spark plug wells for oil

Not an easy task for number 6 cylinder :D

Not being a mechanic so dont listen to me but could it not have got a bit of dampness in somewhere from the wash.....
And no reason to doubt it for that long journey if you werent doubting it before this.....
:)

As the problem seems to have started after you washed it, then as said above it's probably got some damp on the electrics so give the leads and dis packs a spray with some WD40 or damp start :).
If you really want peace of mind then as Tunnie said check for oil in the plug wells :-/.
HTH,
Pete :y.
PS. Have a safe uneventful trip on Friday :).

That bad eh!
After reading how difficult it was to change the plugs on a 2.5/3.0 V6 I booked the week off work when I planned to change mine ;D. It was no where near as bad as it had been made out to be. Perhaps it was the training I'd had changing all 6 plugs on a straight 6. ;) ;D ;D ;D

1614 may mean, incorrect immobilliser signal. Could be old code? Any problems with this you know of?
0300 random or multiple missfires
0306 is cylinder 6 right at the back pas side.
Worth checking the the coil packs 1 3gang per bank(not dispac) for cracks or damage to the iron cores(brass looking bits showing through the plastic at the base) splits to rubber boots to spark plug due to water ingress or oil from blown cam covers. Also check the electrical plug connector at the other end.
To remove the coil pack find a suitable long bolt or whatever to screw into the coil pack securing bolt hole. This thread is revealed in the brass insert when the smaller securing bolt is removed. With bolts inserted cover the coil pack with a rag or similar so you dont chip it when it comes flying out and clouts the plenum or fuel pipes(remove)bracket, cable tray(unbolt and tie back) and associated gubbins.
Dont take it to vx, they will shaft you. Hth
