As a rule if the Oil Cooler has gone there will be oil in the coolant reservoir, may look like brown sludge (mayo)...

hi theres no sludge in the coolant tank but the oil filler is full of mayo and the dipstick would this be a head gasket

If there ain't no sludge in your coolant mate I would say your oil cooler sounds ok.
If you have Mayo in your Oil Filler (where you put the oil in) that is quite a normal thing, if the car has been doing short journeys and has perhaps had crap oil in it.
Try an Oil Change give it a run and see then before worrying to much about the head gasket. It is rare they do go on V6's, they do go but rare :y
