Title: Hand Brake shoes pins pulled through
Post by: andyc on 23 December 2008, 22:38:55
Hi Guys

quick question, on my 95 CDX ir has the early type handbrake shoe retaining pins, the ones with the cross head,

Now on the OS one of the pins has pulled through the back plate, the bottom two back plate bolts are solid so i can't get a new style pin in from behind. anyone got ant bright ideas??

At the moment its looking like i'll have to try and mig the slots and re cut them but its bloody tight geting in there

Any ideas would be great

Cheers
Andy

Fit the pins from behind and buy the caps from the later ones....

As above, or you can fit a brake pin washer on from behind, quite a simple and cheap fix ;)

Hi Andy,
I had this same problem on my 96 Elite and all i did was as Dazzler suggested and put one of the washer's marked by the yellow arrow in the picture, on to the back of the Back-plate and push the pin through and lock in place as normal. Make sure you flatten any high spots around the hole in the back-plate first though :).
