Title: leaks from No.1 injection (split) & spill pipes!!!
Post by: Kevin007 on 26 December 2008, 18:34:59
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have an Omega 2.5 Diesel Automatic (2000 model). Recently while driving on the motorway, I noticed smoke coming from the engine...naturally I broke down and was rescued by the AA. The bloke informed me that I had leaks from Number 1 injection which apparantly is broken or spit, and that I need to replace the spill pipes. I have no idea what this means and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me and give a rough idea of how much this will cost me to sort out.
Thanks
Kevin

Sounds like the bleed off pipes.....a set of small rubber pipes which connect between the injectors with a return to the pump.

They get old and crack with age.

The set of bleed off pipes I bought for my 4 pot Astra were just a few quid .... so if the 6 pot Omegais similar  :-/ half as much again. They are just a push fit on the Astra ..... I can only assume they're similar on the BMW/Vauxhall 6 pot  :-/  :y

Hi mate
Hav 2 agree with above, they get very old and start pershing, thus leaking diesel. But are so easy to replace. They are a few types of hose you'd get but make sure you get the correct type. I got hose before and when the heat got near it they swell up and come away from connection. But when you get this sorted you'll notice a difference, gud luck mate.... :y :y

as said easy job to do just pull the old ones off and replace with new cut to length pipe, i buy mine by the metre length and cut it to the lengths i need, its a lot cheaper than vauxhall prices doing it that way, any diesel repairer will have leak off or spill pipe  :y

As others have said, its just the bleed off pipes have perished after 8 yrs. Easy to replace, though you mentioned No1, which means if its the one from injector back to top of pump, you'll have to remove intake.
