Title: mayo in oil filler tube
Post by: omegod on 29 December 2008, 15:28:02
Just noticed a light smearing of mayo when toping up the oil, dont appear to be losing coolant and oil and water appear clear. Temp is spot on and driving fine.

Would this be likely to be due to new job being 2 miles away and not getting the motor hot enough? used to do lots of miles and aint seeen it before!

In short, yes.  Very short journeys will produce this, and it will get worse.

For the good health of your engine, either do not use the miggy for such short journeys which is a killer for cars, or do a very good run at least once a week, with 3,000 mile oil changes. ;) ;)
