Utterly illegal though....

what would be the legal way to do it change the units

To comply with DfT's interpretation of UK law:
- Lenses must be approved for HID use
- a washing system must be fitted
- an automatic levelling system is required
-
so i would require a set of hid units from a donor omega!
a simple water system and set of washer heads!
does anyone know does the self leveling system in the omega headlight require special hard ware or just a electrical feed from main lights switch??

if your car has suspension levelling, that would suffice...

the leveling system just attaches to the wishbone i believe and operates a small motor with an arm that raises or lowers the aim

Utterly illegal though....
And very little chance of being caught provided you keep the glass clean

To use HIDs as main beam, they need to be on all the time, and use shutters. Strike time and bulb life prevent being able to switch on when needed.

Chap I spoke to from DfT a few months back did say they were planning a clampdown due to the influx of cheap aftermarket kits that are usually poorly adjusted and cause glare due to wrong lenses, no washing etc
-
i need to be on the right side of the law because were i work it would be embarassing to be caught.... :-X

Didn't they fit estates with rear self levelling?

Didn't they fit estates with rear self levelling?
is different system not same as self leveling for lights, still need to fit sensors on front and rear wishbones
-
I have fitted a similar kit to my fog lights with 6000k bulbs and a 4 led side light bulb,so now have a fairly uniform colour when all illuminated...didn,t try a HID upgrade on main beam for reasons mentioned earlier.

Suspension levelling is enough to appease the law.
