Title: heater matrix hose conection
Post by: MickR on 01 January 2009, 20:52:14
Hi, I need to refil the coolant on my s reg 2.5 petrol elite.
The Haynes book says that I need to remove the heater matrix feed pipe from the bulkhead and fill it up with coolant. Whilst the pipe is easy to locate, cant work out how to undo it (some sort of plastic connector that I have not seen before). Any one shed any light on how it comes off? Am hoping that once I have done this I will be able to get some heat out of the aircon again.

Mick

I wouldn't bother with that suggestion from the Haynes book of best guesses....

Advise filling system from cold, cabin heater to max heat, expansion cap off, start car, regularly burp air out the main radiator pipe as the car heats...  Continue until both pipes are hot and to temp, then replace exp cap.  Allow to cool overnight then recheck level and top up in the morning.

Jobs a good 'un.....   :y

welcome to oof Mick, as Mr 21 says, personally i only ever top it up to the level in coolant bottle and keep an eye on it as its self bleeding. Take no notice of the book of lies, although it does have its uses. Not just nealing on.

Exactly what the Guys have already said really. The only reason I would take both hoses off the heater matrix at the bulkhead is to flush the heater out both ways, you maybe suprised at the crap that may come out.
In answer to your question about the clips though, think you push back the plastic clip, then the hose will pull off. :y
