Title: 1996 Auto 2.0 - Where is the oil dipstick?
Post by: thicko1 on 03 January 2009, 11:19:06
Hi all,

Got a 1996 2.0 Auto (Select) and see just the 1 dipstick, which I assumed by the colour of the oil was the autobox transmission fluid. Is that the case, or is that actually the engine oil dipstick?

If it's engine oil, where is the transmission fluid dipstick? Been driving me nuts for ages now, so thanks in advance to anyone who can enlighten me.

The dipstick situated to the right hand side of the engine is for the engine oil.

There is no dipstick for the transmission. The only way to check the level is to try topping it up. Theres a thread in the maintenance guides on how to do this.

Thanks for clarifying that for me mate.

Saw that transmission thread when searching, so will refer to that when need be :)
