For almost 2 months now when I turn off ignition I get symbol - - appear in the electronic climate dials .This does not matter wether I am turning it off after using heater on "eco" or as today on total climate.
I have no faults with heater,it gets hot when it should and runs cold, infact it is ice cold with climate on lo setting .Have had system checked over with uv light for any leaks and all is air-tight.
Can anybody suggest what if anything is causing this as manual says .."go to dealers as a fault has developed"..trouble is I cannot now remortgage so would prefer to keep my money and get it fixed at a non stealer price.

It maybe an old fault.....as the dashes will remain ven if the fault is clear.
I assume all the driection controls etc work fine and that the temp is nicely regulated
-
Temperature works fine, all dials show correct numbers and illuminate properly.Yesterday I turned setting down to "lo"and air was iced so assume aircon is correct as has been checked for leaks recently.
Would it clear if I disconnected battery for a while and then reconnected as all other areas are working as should.

I suspect not.....although pulling fuses 12 and 14 will do the same as a battery disconnect (without the hassle)

I suppose the old saying then "if it ant broke don,t fix it "would seem to apply then ?

had this on my old mig for about 3 or 4 days before the ac pump packed up due to lack of gas/ holed condenser, had to look up from the floor between the gap from it and and rad to find the dreaded yellow halo with uv/goggles.
Since discovered the -- means a fault code is stored as you say, 2 months is plenty time for a leak to trip the pump out so maybe yours is just running low finally? Code reader/Tech2 needed, vx will rape your wallet to tell you they dont know what the problem is most likely. Tech2 owning members on here are a far better bet.
Just another tuppence worth. :-)

Thanks for headsup, chrisgixer. As previously mentioned the ac condensor and compressor were both replaced with new about 9 months ago and at the same time a uv dye was added. As the sytem and parts were under warranty I requested my ac man to check the entire system for any leaks with his "sniffer" and uv goggles. This is a guy I have used for about 10 years and his work and service are second to none,so if he tells me ther is no leak and no loss or low running of coolant I would tend to trust him. Also as explained I ran the climate on "lo" yesterday and the air coming out was iced so expect all is functioning correctly.Would the tech2 be able to identify the fault as might consider a trip to see Kevin Wood in the new year if he still has the machine as could couple this up with a gearbox upgrade,as I think he is the only tech 2 owner "downsouth.

No problem :y Drop me a PM and we'll arrange something. Meanwhile, if I end up in your neck of the woods I'll bring the Tech 2.

Cheers Kevin.

Reported this fault couple of weeks ago, that when switched off ignition had the display -- -- in the digital dials.
Not paid much attention over last few days as been so cold but noticed today, the problem seems to have cured its self and when turn off ignition dials just shut down. is this now self cured or has the ecu just removed the stored fault after a set number of starts...think it might be the "little green men ".

They must have done it when they crashed into the wind turbine ;D

I'll just send a PM, amba06128. I was going to get back to you with some dates for Tech2'ing.
