for about 2 weeks the drivers seat has gone to burning mode whatever number I put the dial on between 1 and 5, now it has stopped working altogether, the light next to the dial comes on but no heat.
Any ideas please.

is there a guide on here, i went through all 6 pages but could only find cloth instructions about removal, but i dont know if it is in the same place on the leather
any help will be great thanks

From what I can tell from the posts on here (i have leather myself), the pad is stitched to the seats and difficult to replace. Given the amount of work required to take the seat apart - unstitch and re-stitch the leather, it may be easier to replace the whole seat. (or do without the heat!)
Several breakers on here who should be able to assist. :y

Contact a specials car upholstery place for a quote to replace heater pads, though on facelifts, may be worth checking stat first

Stat ? My drivers seat (leather) does not work.....passenger and rears all fine - go figure :( - what to check ?

I think you can stick a replacement pad under the leather covers in a frakenstein type fashion similar to the cloth ones, failing that a fan heater in the rear footwell will have to do ;D

so what has failed is it litterally the pad in the drivers seat, no wires or fuse boxes no?

Check if you have power at the switch, if you do I would say that the pad itself would be the prime candidate

99.99% of the time it will be a failed heater pad. On facelifts, there is a stat under the seat that worth checking first...

is it possible to swap the front seats over at all?
-
yeah you can swap the seat for another drivers seat or just get a heater pad and stick it under the existing pad and it works ok

sorry,i meant swap passenger and driver seat over
-
i think they're a straight swap but buttons etc will be on wrong side
-
If you do it with pretensioners on a later model you'll likely upset the airbag ecu, and then there's the side airbags too!
