Title: Vx main stealers.....
Post by: sneakypenguin on 09 January 2009, 23:28:50
as some of you may know my n/s washer jet went missing in suspicious circumstances a few weeks ago. just for a laugh I went to my local stealers to see how much they would want for a replacement. £44 for that little piece of plastic!!!!! :'( :'( :'( if it was the whole mechanism then I could understand but a little piece of plastic!! I actually laughed when the parts bloke told me, he wasn't amused lol

You might have more luck trying some of the guys on this forum who regularly break omegas - Markey  Mark is one I think - also check parts for sale section

yeah, tried that section but they seem to be as rare as rocking horse pooh plus I don't have a high enough post count to post a thread in there  :'(

The 5 series BMW washers fit apparently and might be a bit easier to get hold of, there was a post on here about a fortnight ago about it

That's definately not right. My nearside went walkabout a couple of months ago and I bought a new one. I don't remember how much but I don't think more thank £10. My n/s went walk about last week so need to get another one soon.

Main stealers really do take the pee with their prices. There's no justification for charging £44 for such a tiny bit of plastic. Is this part standard across the Vx range? I would go to the local scrappy and compare the one you've still got against Vectras/Astras. You may veen get lucky and find an Omega in scrappy...

Just before Christmas our 2.5 was due for MOT, three headlamp washer nozzles were missing.

After spending some time turning substitutes from nylon rod I spoke to the tester after it passed, headlamp washers not part of the test he said.

Blanking plugs and motor disconnection next time they go missing.
