If fitting an X20XEV then make sure its the later unit with the balance shafts fitted!
These appeared in 1998 at around the same time the later ABS setup was fitted.

How can you tell if it is?? Its a 98 so theres a good chance, its a mini facelift and has solid headrests on the seats...what do I look for?
-
Lol.....the certain give away is to look at the inlet snorkel in front of the radiator (behind the grill).....if it has a little resonant stub on it.....its the later engine setup!

whats so much better about the later 2.0?

would like to know the same, as i seem to have an earlier 2.0 litre engine (1996)
pulls quite well at 136k
-
Would same later engine also be where the split sump came into being?

My dad had an older 1997 2.0 and I now have a 1999 and it just seems to have a bit more go in it. I think because the engine has a better balance it rotates easier 8-)

what are the balancer shafts actually balancing? rotation/firing of the cylinders?
anyway if the balancer shaft lump is so good then why do courtenay do a kit to remove them?
-
The big air pipe has a module thing half way down, this what you mean??
