Hi guys...am a little puzzled by what happened to the car this morning...
Went out to start it.. rook a little while to turn over then started to run a little arratic....dropped it into drive the revs started going from just above 500 to 1500 so dropped it back into neutral and was then fine....
over the last couple of days the missus has been using the car whilst i've been away and when i got back home she said there had been a warning lite on the dash illuminated...after a trip to the car for her to show me it was the eml....but now not on..
any ideas?

Even though the light isn't on now it should still have a fault code stored. Only way to know for definite is to hook it up to a tech 2 and read the error codes
-
I thought that might be the case...... thanks for the reply.. :y

Read the Paper Clip test in the how to section. This will explain how to read the codes without tech 2.
-
Don't think you can paperclip the 2.2
-
I think the paper clip test only applies to prefacelift cars. Pedal trick works on 2.6 and 3.2, but for 2.2 codes you need tech 2 :(

Thanks again everyone, will arrange with one of the guys with a TechII on once i get paid to have a look at it..... :y

IAC valve or Crank shaft / cam shaft sensor

sounds like its the breathers.
have you had the breathers cleaned out before?
almost every time my car does this its cleared by cleaning the breathers out.
try this before oyu go spending out on bigger parts.
you will need the AIAC seal/gasket as these tend to be once use only.

you may have just solved my problem here, as i have a very similar problem and have posted about it before
Im going to be cleaning the IACV and breathers tomorrow, might be worth doing the same to yours
-
This is probably going to make me sound thick but what is the IACV and where would i find it located on the engine?
Thanks
