Hello and happy new year to all started haveing a problem with my 98 2.5 today cuts out sometimes and feels like brakes been pressed aswell and then picks up again .eml comes on so did paperclip test and codes 73 74 come up which is mass air flow sensor does anybody know if i can do anything or is it a replacement many thanks

Very rare failure.....try starting and running the car with the MAF disoconnected (this will use a set of default values resulting in poor acceleration but should stop it cutting out).

Also check the connector to the MAF for water damage

if it needs replacement, i think Albatross on here got a new patern maf for under £50, or genuine are over a ton, has the car got/always had the standard filter?

Don't by a pattern one on eBay. They are rubbish (at least mine was)Better off getting a genuine 2nd hand one form a breaker

I did try a cone fillter for a few weeks but used more fuel so removed
