on my 2002 MV6 have gone all 'Matt Damon'
What are my options?! (Bearing in mind I am lowering it 40mm soon) as I understand it has lottery wining self levelling sus on it?

imho, miggy is a heavy car and lowering 40 mm will stress the shocks to the maximum..
so
the drive wont be comfortable any more
and you need to change the shocks more frequently..
you decide.. :y

It will be comfortable enough, and I want it to look hench and drift better so worth the small sacrifice imo :)

Cheers mate, I thought it was a self leveller as I only posted a pic a while ago of a stray lead/plug under the car and the opinion was it was for the self leveling?!
I don't know if I have an oddball, has vented rears if that makes any difference.

It should have vented rears at that age.
It might have self leveling, easy to check by looking at the shocks to see if they have small pipes connectd to them.
As for shock choice, if lowering 40mm then you wont be able to fit any sort of OEM shock as they will only support a max 30mm drop.
If you want the rear stiffer then fit Senator rear donut bushes!

as an experience I've played with the shocks in clit sport ..(and some
other cars before) result is disaster.. riding is same as riding a mad
bull.. and the shocks dont live any longer than 6 months ;D ;D

Ummm, I think they are 40mm, I will have to look further in, I got them off MV6copcar, they are PI's
Don't remember any pipes so likely not self leveller then. Is there much out there for omegas in the way of shocks or can I use different vaux efforts?
And why are the Senny dounts better? Just bigger? (We talking about subby bushes?)

Stiffening the light rear end of the clit on FWD is different to a Heavy RWD. I have played with lots of cars and lowering and although I appreciate it wont be as comfy, it will not be bone shuddering and will be better for what I want overall. Decent coilovers would be the perfect solution, but to keep comfort and control (and the fact there can't be many oprtions in that field for the omega) would involve spending a fortune!
I appreciate the shocks wont last as long, but 6months is very pessamistic, the lowered springs are stiffer and proggesive anyway, they lower the car by being shorter not softer :)

I got the same effect when saloon shocks were fitted to the estate in error!! :o

afaik the mv6 is already lowered from a standard omega by 30 mill (?) that being the case you would have a 70 mill lower car from standard...? Just wonder how much suspension travel will be left before your on the bump stops?

The senator bushs are quite a bit stiffer than the Omega ones

erm ..using the original still.. the proper models cost a fortune ;D

Well what do you expect....on a car that size I would be surprised if they would tolerate much more than a 20-25mm drop! ;D

dropped 25 mm.. if I dont catch the holes no problem..
comfort is donald.. but road handling much better.. the day I buy the car it was bouncing on the road like a [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] ;D

Right, well my 200sx was much improved on lower springs (35mm iirc) even my carlton was ok on cut :D springs, mildly choppy, but only if you are piccy, its squishy to start with and improved turn in no end, infact the rears need to be stiffer!
Anyway, the question was :P ;D whats my options bearing in mind I am looking to lower her max 40mm :y

any updates on your shock choice?
ive just bought a set of pi springs for mine and I am waiting to see how you get on with yours before i decide what to do .....

Left them as normal :D
Can see the big thing tbh as its a 40mm drop from standard (the MV6 is already 15-20mm lower anyway)
It sits low (pic in pic section) but ok so far, the transitions for drifting is super improved :y but only did it all yesterday.
Will keep you updated :)

As said, fit Senator bushes to the rear subframe for even stiffer bum end....
And watch the shocks as they may be on the end of thier travel
