Hi folks the self leveling shocks on my facelift elite are shot !!
am i right in saying that i could replace them with standard ones and
if so what do you do with the 2 air lines ???
-
Well we have a mini facelift which has had its rear shocks changed for standard ones, the pipes are just there connected to nothing..
-
With Tradeclub, genuine rear self levelling shocks are about £150 the pair if you want to keep the feature

Just out of interest; if an estate such as this has self leveling suspension, would it also normally have the HID headlight aligning mechanism fitted as well?
In another thread, I think it was MDTM that posted an article on the law regarding the fitting of "after market" HID's which said something along the lines that a car should have either self leveling suspension, or self leveling headlights to prevent dazzle etc.
So my thinking being; if the self leveling rear shocks are replaced with non self leveling, and the car does not have a self leveling HID mechanism, there could be a problem with Headlight alignment. :-/ :-/

I brought some genuine vx ones a couple of months ago, cost £67 each + VAT (TC Card) compared with good OEM ones which where about the same...

The two systems are completely seperate from each other. If you have factory HID's then they WILL have the level system built in, sensor on FNS lower wishbone & RNS radius arm.
If you decide to fit standard dampers ...... I'd fit OE ;) - you know you want to :y ... just pull the fuse for the compressor, it only feeds the compressor. Make sure you tie up the pipes at the back out of the way though. When I bought my car, the OE self levellers had been replaced with standard, but the pipes had alsobeen rubbed through by the tyres because they'd not been tied up properly. Bloody expensive for what they are. :(
