Title: Service items
Post by: chrisl_1960 on 18 January 2009, 19:22:57
I'm going to Service the Mig next weekend for the first time since buying it, is there any general preferences out there for manufacturer of items, eg NGK or Vx for spark plugs, factor parts for filters? what oil?

any opinions welcome, the cars done 85k and i dont think it had much tlc last year, time to give it some pampering I think

if you have a vx trade card then just get everything from there but based on what iv read id defo try for the vx plugs and oil (think there's some cheaper plugs that are the exact same as vx plugs though) and just get the filters from halfrauds on tradecard if you have it

If you know someone with a trade card get it all from Vauxhall. Has the car had a cambelt and tensioner change recently ie in the last 40,000 miles of 4 years?

I have a service book that says the cambelt was done about 15000 miles ago, it's MOT next week, followed by a service, I'm going to give it about 1000 miles and then do another oil change, and at that point I think I'll do the cambelt just to be sure.

I gather it's a good idea to do the waterpump at the same time as the belt on the V6, is this the same for a 4 pot?
