Title: Central Locking on 6th attempt
Post by: Jamborock on 19 January 2009, 20:29:37
Hi, I have just bought a 2002 Omega 2.2 CD Auto and am very leased withit although I have one slight problem and one question.

Problem: The central locking will not lock until the 6th attempt - same for FOB or KEY - the locks activate and then almost immediately unlock. It locks on the 6th attempt evey time so far. The doors are all shut properly, so I don't know what this could be - can anybody help.

Question: As this is the first saloon I have owned - hatchbacks before - with this car my perviously reliable rear cycle rack will not fit, and as this car has no gutters or roof rails has anybody fitted a roof top cycle rack successfully. I would like to be able to carry 2 bikes.

Thanks

i had /have the same problem i cured it by sitting in the car and locking it a couple of times with the button in the car i.e. the button on the door this cures it for about a couple of months then its back but only in the winter time must be a lazy solonoid

Worth trying to lube the mechanisms as a lazy lock often causes this :)

Had a similar problem and put up with it for ages until the deadlock mechanism jammed!!  Managed to get it free and it turned out to be a combination of a faulty solenoid and a siezing mechanism.  No idea what would have happened if I'd been unable to open the door!  Not a difficult DiY job if you have the tools and are handy with a spanner.

cycle rack, yes thule roof bars(halfords) clamp to the gutters, then clamp what ever to those, ladders myself. can just get 2 mountain bikes in the boot, seats down, front wheels out, and get someone to guide it through from the back seats to save your back. i think the bose shelf is in the way on the elite though, for regular use on the roof is better. hth
