Title: headlight adjustment
Post by: unlucky alf on 19 January 2009, 22:27:32
ive just fitted projectors to my old tractor but i appear to be lighting up aircraft at the moment, on the lights sealing rubber it says: "for adjustment consult handbook", looked in that & it says go to a vx dealer!, anyhow just want to make sure what screw on the lights adjusts what, ive been twiddling but doesnt seem to do much even though i know you have to turn them lots to make a difference, i presume the projectors are a different animal pattern wise so any pointers would be appreciated ;) ;),,,,,TIA. :y

pull off the rubber cover on the back of each light and see if the inside of the light moves about, if you got them thru the post then the adjusters are prob broken  :(

yeah cheers!, that is how i got them with one broken >:(, taken it to bits & fabricated another using the old style adjuster & extended it as they are shorter [easy to do!] so no broken adjuster now just need to know which screw does what :y

Outside screw of each light adjusts the height...inner screw adjusts left/right

Find a flat piece of ground and drive up to a wall/garage door (bumper almost touching).

Place marks/tape where the centre bright spots of the beam pattern are (this is where the light starts to kick up).

Reverse back 3m or so and now adjust the headlights so teh bright spot is about 10mm below the marks.

This is exactly what the proper kit does with the exception that it uses a beam splitter so it can be fitted into the work shop!
