Hi All

Wont be buying a v6 any time soon! :o High 30's to low 40's in the little 4 pot ::)
-
As above, motorway at 70 mph should be 33/35 mpg

Cheers Guys
thats pretty good actually
;D
-
35-45 ish for me
-
Sorry I was to slow to reply, anyway around town a 2.5/2.6 is 20 mpg, on the motorway a 70/75 mph should 33/35 mpg.

Driven at grandad speeds....
Outside lane, with usual outside lane cruise speeds which is where an Omega should be.... get about 28mpg on a 3.0
-
On cruise on the M62 I get a quoted 37-38 at 70

i know, price of fuel has dropped now so may changw driving style ::)

couple of manual box's in there perhaps?
-
Manual :y
-
Auto for mine, with a slight tail wind 8-)
35 on level ground in normal driving, more than happy, equivalent of my 2litre Mondeo which was a manual, and far more relaxing
-
Driven like old man on the motorway at a steady 60 in my 2.0 manual returns more mgs than my mothers micra 8-)
-
On a recent trip to MK and back managed to get the 3.0 up to 34.6mpg! I was quite happy with that!

Right thats it! As soon as I have a decent ncd i'm getting 3.0/3.2 8-)
-
mine 3.0 auto on motorway 30 mpg ish but round town is not so sweet 15.5 :-?
-
my 3.0 v6 auto can do 32 mpg at grandad speeds on the motorway, but stop start traffic and town driving gives more like 20-25 mpg. 80+ on the motorway yields about 27-28 mpg. Still I think thats acceptable for a 3.0 on petrol. I converted mine to LPG when prices tipped £1.20/Litre so mpg is no longer a major concern :)

My dad had a Jaguar XJS when I was a lad, when he accelerated in that the fuel computer regularly showed 1mpg or even 0mpg, t'was the 5.3 V12 HE (High Economy) , bit of a contradiction in terms. So all in all 30+ ain't too bad
-
Oh, you poor souls. Last trip to Newcastle in the tractor gave 49.4mpg with the cruise control set at 70mph. 80mph runs give about 45mpg.
Best I've seen is back from London where it gave 53mpg, but I did stick to 60mph for most of the trip, then I got bored...very bored !
(No doubt TB will be along shortly with his Tractor Bashing ! :D)

High-Efficiency , heads were designed by Michael May, some swiss moooosh :-?
-
is the 3.0 mv6 better on fuel than the 2.5?
Mine averaged at 60 mph 36.7 ;)
-
60mph. Liar. ;) You aint been anywhere to get it up to 60!!! ;D ;D ;D
Hope cambelt change went well mate.
Anyhow back on topic. Mine averages about 33 - 32 at approx 70. Dont want to think what its like round town. :'(
-
I do anything up-to 500 miles a week and my 2002 3.2 MV6 Auto does 33-37 MPG at a steady 70mph and 30-33 at a steady 80mph.
I've tried lower speeds but then you find you have to accelerate to overtake lorries which ultimately, decreases overall efficiency. You also don't get so much momentum going uphill and have to put your foot down more to keep your speed up.
I find overall it's better to stay with the flow and keep a steady foot on the throttle.
-
LGP!!
I've heard good and reports on LPG installation. Can anyone recomend anywhere in the Wiltshire area and how much should one expect to pay
:)
-
LPG? OK.
3.2 MV6 Auto on LPG. On a commute that used to return 27MPG on a good day on petrol I'm doing 21-22 MPG on LPG. Fuel cost 11p per mile.
Conversions... Entwood had his converted here and was happy: http://www.amsautogas.com
Budget for £2k+, or £700 for a DIY kit. :y

Gave my tractor a thrashing to the Midlands and back, 'singing' at 75/80mph all the way, it returned 33mpg. Running locally, it's exactly the same - 33mpg.
This was calculated by brimming the tank, then refilling immediately after leaving the motorway - the only dead accurate method!
Considering mine's been chipped, I'm quite happy that a near-2ton motor achieves this figure. I know that Pitchfork's achieves similar economy.
-
I'm off to Geordieland on Saturday afternoon. I'll make a note of what I get.
From what I gather, chipping a TD can improve fuel consumption. (Once you've stopped @r$eing about with the grin factor achieved from the extra ponies ;D)
-
Well, arrived in Geordieland in one piece. Average consumption shows 42.5 with Cruise set at 80mph. I'll see what it does by sticking to 70mph on the way back.
Really need to sort out the light tho'. A combination of not the worlds best lights, road spray on the lenses and the white lines blending in with the greyed out carriageway due to the road salt proved to be a bit of a taxing journey through the darker unlit sections.
-
3.0 Litre Elite manual ( have had two in last couple of years) both have given low 30's mpg on motorways and mid 20's around town. Pretty consistently. :)
-
better stop booting mine then, 24 showing for my 25 minute commute to sluf. on the m4. Shift work means nothing in the way.
-
Stuck to 60mph from Newcastle to Strensham Services and got 53.4mpg. May have got a little more cos sitting at 60mph means accellerating before pulling out to overtake lorries and coaches as most are restricted to 56mph.
Along the M4 for the last 70 odd miles I stuck to 70mph and got 44.8.
So not much difference between 70 and 80mph, but 60mph gives over 11mpg extra.
Got caught up in a fair old tail back on the M50. Lorry carrying batteries went over and spilt a load of acid over the carriageway. When I finally passed the incident you'd have thought a plane had come down. I counted 17 various fire and police vehicles.
-
Mine Avrg'd 26 MPG during a 200 mile round trip
-
Must add just come back from daughters at hemel to doncaster averaged 31 going down and 32 coming back well ch uffed 80 ish all way and back 3.2 elite
-
Traveled back from daughters yesterday, 137 miles of which only 10 miles non-motorway, and I did it in 1 hour 32 minutes, at 29.8 mpg which I was more than happy with as I didn't spare the kick downs! 8-) 8-)
My 3.0 over a similar journey and timings used to see about 32mpg, so I am finding my 2.5 is working harder and therefore using more fuel. ::) ::) ::)
-
My manual with cruise on at 70 .35-37
-
V6 hates city centre traffic
motorway driving i get around 22mpg but thats because i storm the inside lane at silly speeds
round town i get according to the trip computer 17mpg but thats a 3.0 Manual
-
Best I ever had was when I picked it up. I took it steady MOST of the way, and drove from Gloucester to York. This I got around 32 mpg ish.
The screen currently reads 15.5 :( And I last reset that over a week ago :'(
Mostly town driving, and me getting impatient at junctions / roundabouts so booting it into small gaps!! ;D
-
from 2.5 I get 33-34 mpg..
-
I get a consistent 38mpg combined.....every week for the last 6 months doing a 100 mile round trip door to door average.
This includes two cold starts, some city/town work but mainly motorway and major road.
It is achieved by pussy footing about though!
