Title: help: cat or lamba sensor?

hi  omega 2.0 16v 1995 failed on emmisions today
co should be below 0.30
actual readings 0.54 and 0.48

lamba should be between .97-1.03
actual readinds 1.048 and 1.047
so is it the cat or lamba or both

The fact that they are both high suggests its the cat i'm afraid.

I disagree....if it was just the cat the lambda should be about right and the CO would be high (the cat is post lambda).

Any fault codes stored for a starter!

33 been there since ive had the car 4 years or so
39 is new to me
dont know what either mean though

Fault codes can be found here ...

12 = Start of sequence
33 = Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Voltage Low
39 = O2 Sensor 1 Circuit Voltage High

so I'd try blanking off the EGR

found a how to on the net will have a go tomorrow and
see if it works

code 39 has gone
still got code 33
seems odd would have thought it would be the other way round
any more ideas chaps :)

Well thats good news.

The EGR is stuck in one postion, blanking it is not un-stiking it, but will stop the gases flowing when they shouldn't.

You might find that cleaning the pintel on the EGR with a good oven cleaner a few times gets rid of the other code (so it free to move again).

The fact the lambda fault code is now gone sudgests that your emissions may now be ok....lambda should certainly be ok!

Did you notice any significant changes after blanking off EGR? Power increas...? Power decrease?

seems to tick over smoother
no noticable power increase
going to norwich tomorrow will find out more then
