right, car is a 99 omega 2.0 16v ecotec cd
started it up the other nite and it was ticking over a bit lumpy but then cleared itself with no further probs
went out last nite on a 90 mile trip with no probs at all
when i left my dads it was runnning lumpy again and breaking down in power under any sort of hardish accelaration
if i increased power slowly then it was fine
took lead cover off and pulled all 4 leads off and no 1 (closest to front of car) had a lil bit of what looked like oil on the lead and number 4 (closest to bulkhead) had a orange dusty dirt round the lead with a bit of oil round the bottom
looking inside plug chambers it looked quite oily
now here the problem lol someone sed yh thats ok always look like that hmmmmmm

Yep. Cam/rocker cover, call it what you will. Fairly sure there is a guide in maintenance for the 4pot. Clean breathers as well or itll go again. And may as well do the idle valve bit, or whatever its called on them, while your at it. You may find the actual miss fire is the oil cooking the rubber boots on the lead cap. But you can check all that while your in there. Hth

I recently had a miss fire on my V6, I found a plug not firing with indications it had water in the well & this was the probable cause of the Dis pack failing.
Symptoms were vibration at idle, especially when in top under acceleration it was like driving over a rumble strip, gradual acceleration was not quite as teeth rattling.
If the plug isn't firing it will be obvious when its removed compared to the others.
