Title: 3.0 auto box fluid recommendations
Post by: humbucker on 21 January 2009, 19:49:24
im sure ive seen this covered elsewhere but i cant seem to find it when searching the forum...

going to change my autobox fluid and gaskets, getting the filters and gasket set from ABS, but wasnt sure what fluid is 'officially' recommended by OOF. i know it "MUST be to Dexron III spec" but wasnt sure which brand or retailer is best to get and how much i'd need. was going to order it up tomorrow.

cheers all.

technically dan you can use either dexron 2 or 3 in the autoboxes :P
it's just that they updated it to dexron 3 and its dexron 2 only in the PAS lol

you could try finding a motorfactors (theres a good one near me caled andrew page) and i think they do all the oils!
i'v never seen it in halfords tbh

alex, do you know what quantity of fluid is required for the ar35?

Use Fuchs Titan 4000 from Opie Oils (we - OOF - get a discount).
Wouldn't bother with the gaskets, i'd just use liquid gasket and the filter can just be flushed out.

Depends if you try and flush through the oil cooler as well, if not six or seven litres should be ample.

fuchs is better quality / better priced than GM branded stuff from the stealer (even with tc discount?)

Very difficult to find a VX dealer that will supply DexIII believe it or not!

Fuchs is what MDTM recommends as meeting / exceeding the GM specification IIRC.  :y

called JPAT, friendly people. just ordered the gaskets and filter, with a 24 hour courier  service thrown in, total was £30.59 inc VAT. cant say fairer than that. would only have been 3 quid cheaper with regular carriage.

thanks for the heads up  :y
