Title: TD Stat and water pump
Post by: MickAP on 21 January 2009, 15:23:55
How long would it take to replace the stat and water pump on the TD engine
Reason for asking is I don't fancy doing it myself and just want to get a rough idea on possible costs/time labour wise from someone who has replaced theirs.
Infact the pump should be ok but because the stat needs replacing may as well do the pump as well, what do you think?

both together shouldnt take more than an hour and a half, BUT!!! they could make it longer by saying they had trouble removing viscous and we had  to drain rad remove rad etc etc,
ive never had to remove the rad to do stat , or water pump or the alternator belt :y

If the stupid viscous fan comes off straight away, or like me you keep it in the garage where it belongs, about 1hr, bit longer if you take the opportunity to change coolant (drain plug in block and on rad, so nice and easy)

One and a half hours max to change both.
No need to remove rad either.

And best place to get the correct parts, apart from paying dealer prices? That's stat and pump.

I used a large local factors in MK, Motorserv, but they don't really do mail order. Seem to recall stat being around a tenner, but pump really expensive.
