Title: Ex police full beam issues
Post by: Freypal on 26 January 2009, 16:44:15
Hey, just got myself an 02 plate ex police omega and its all pretty good except for the fact the main beam doesn't work :(

Had a look around with an avo meter, the fuses are fine, relay is fine and the dashboard light illuminates, however there is no power arriving at the plug to the beam unit.

Is this at all common with ex plod vehicles? Im assuing it is something to do with the way the police gear was removed in a less than thorough manner.

If not i guess its a case of tracing back until i hit a power feed for them! Bit akward with the cramped space for the wiring though.

Many thanks!

Unfortunately it'll be down to the removal of the flasher unit :( :( :(

Just a case of tracing it back ::) ::) ::)

Probably due to removal of the wig-wam unit when decomissioned.

i thought it would be the wigwam to blame. What colour wires are supposed to feed to the beam themselves? I can see 2 or 3 thick looms coming into the engine bay. Worst case il get the feed there and just run new wire to the lights.

Cheers

*cough* wig-wag. Close, but less likely to make services personnel laugh at you... ;)

Sorted finally!

Took hours of faffing about. Headlights out. Traced wires back through the engine bay, through the bulkhead, behind the dash. Tested just about every connection on the car with an avo. About to give up and took the fuse panel off. And low and behold the jobsowrth who decommisioned it had simply cut two wires and not bothered to re-join 2 simple bullet connectors together.

All done though now!
