Title: omega 2.5 td idle mpg
Post by: philglasgow on 29 January 2009, 09:09:41
Hi folks  can anyone shed any light on this,  up till recently my inst mpg when sitting at the lights in drive with my feet on the brake  would sit at 0.1 ocassionally rising to 0.2  if i had lots heating /light s etc.
Its also slightly not as quick( if that can be used) and my mpg has dropped to 27 mpg compared to  37 on average

But within the last week the same reading  has risen to 0.3/0.4 .

Fuel filter has only done  4k air filter is brand new

I dont have access to laptop yet.

Any ideas

Phil

I'm chasing a similar problem myself.

In particular, look for signs of leaking around injectors and bleed off pipes.

to be fair i think i distrubed  it in my  ham fisted attempt to fit a new bulb without removing battery lol,  rad  was needing filled every 2 days  ( approx  70 odd miles ) , no smoke etc  but i checked today level still ok so if still all there tomorrow Im hoping and praying its sorted and not the head .

On the mpg issue im now not sure the turbo is running so  i was thinking of unplugging the afm and see if it drives better or worse.

Thanks

turbo easy to tell - shove a listening stick on it, you'll hear the bearings if its spinning.

If the turbo dont work the car dont go faster than 30.
AS I found when I didn't tighten the jubilees on the plastic TURBO DIESEL bit.
