Title: Coolant level sensor, WHERE?
Post by: Hoffi on 03 February 2009, 15:39:32
I've tried the search option but want to make sure that I am on the right way.
Board Computer mournes about coolant level even if it has just been topped up to the exact level. I've read that the sensor should be located at the bottle but there is none! I even couldn't find a loose cable just in case any crazy person has done a quick fix to the bottle only.

Standing in front of the car looking at the radiator there is a valve/pump located right hand side from the radiator. This shows some kind of scale at the bottom and I think I will need replacing it. Any idea what that valve is for? Any idea of the price?

Thanks again!

Coolant level sesnor is inside the coolant bottle (a polystyrene float) and has a connector on the bottom of the bottle.

Alright, thanks! I will dismount the bottle and check where that one is situated. I checked with a torch some days ago but couldn't find any cable leading to the bottle.

As for the pump you mention....its probably little more than road salt....so not likely to be anything to worry about.

The level sensor  is an integral part of the header tank!
