Title: Miss-fire
Post by: HerefordElite on 07 February 2009, 14:40:35
Been for a bit of a blast (high rpm) and when i pulled up at the lights noticed a bit of a missfire :-/

There was smoke coming out of bonnet (drivers side) but that isn't unusual because the camcover gaskets have been leaking for a while :-[

I'm guessing that the 'spirited' drive has put increased pressure on the breathers and blown more than normal oil out which has subsequently caused oil in plug wells and hence the missfire??

Am i barking up the wrong tree or can a sudden missfire like this occur? :-/

Did a paperclip test and only got 31 (No RPM) but the engine wasn't running.

any advice much appreciated guys :y

Just had a poke about under the bonnet and found the no 3 cylinder plug lead poking out  :o :o :o

Looked in the plug well to find bits of HT lead and lots of oil as expected, but when i poked at the plug it was loose!!! :o :o

Down to Halfords to get some long long nose pliers and hopefully fish the bits out and tighten up the plug

fingers crossed :(

i would get the hoover and tape a bit of hose pipe to the end and use that to get the crap out. after looking at mine today i found that the ht leads are less than perfect and it was a mare trying to get bits out of plug wells! didn't have a hoover as i was at the lockup!

I have a 60ml seringe with about a foot of clear plastic tube in the boot. Great for sucking the oil out of the wells :y
